About
Katherine Argue founder of Wise Beginnings Therapy
Katherine Argue
Counsellor & Psychotherapist (pre- accredited IACP) | Addiction Counselling | Somatic Experiencing Practitioner
My private practice developed out of several years working within addiction, mental health, and family support services. During this time, I became increasingly aware of how difficult it can be for people to find therapy that feels both safe and genuinely attuned to their lived experience, particularly for those carrying trauma, shame, or long-standing relational wounds.
Alongside my professional training, my work has been shaped by direct clinical experience with individuals, couples, and families navigating addiction, recovery, loss, and emotional overwhelm. I noticed a recurring need for therapeutic spaces that move at a humane pace, where clients are not rushed, fixed, or pathologised, but met with curiosity, care, and respect for their capacity.
My private practice was established to offer this kind of space. The work is trauma-informed, relational, and integrative, drawing on person-centred therapy, attachment-informed approaches, somatic-based work, and emotion-focused therapy. Sessions are collaborative and responsive, shaped by the client’s goals, needs, and sense of readiness.
The practice continues to evolve alongside ongoing training and clinical development. At its core is a commitment to safety, integrity, and therapeutic relationships that support meaningful and sustainable change.
